The runways have been walked and the fashion bloggers have been furiously writing and its official; the latest spring and summer trends are in for 2016.
Whether you are an avid fashion follower or whether you have been rocking the same style since the 80’s, it is hard to miss the latest fashion trend of the past year. We have seen bright colours, bold patterns, mini waists and even a brief comeback for tie-dye clothing and 2016 is shaping up to be equally as bold and provocative (but hopefully with a little less tie-dye).
Bold prints and colours
There is no escaping the bold, brash and daring prints we saw at the end of last year as they are firmly here to stay this season. Clashing block colours, monochrome designs and busy patterns were seen on the catwalks all around the world from designers of all kinds. Bright hues of pinks, yellows, reds and oranges dominated the colour schemes of many of the Spring/Summer fashion shows, channelling the positivity and colour of the promise of spring and the new life it brings. Pastel tones have also seemed to have survived the winter cull providing a popular choice with designers still.
Bold prints were also very popular this season with many designers showing off floral and colour blocked designs. The Aztec print was also spotted making its comeback this season to join its comrades in the bold patterned brigade. Psychedelic patterns vaguely reminisce of the retro designs of the 70’s were also featured in many of the Spring/Summer collections indicating that the fashion world’s obsession with old school pop culture is not yet finished.
Cut and fit
The overall fit of the clothes seen in the latest catwalk collections leaned towards a synched in waist and an A-line skirt becoming wider at the bottom. This fitted style is complemented by either strapless tops or thick heavy straps; there will be no in between in this Spring/Summer season.
Another style and cut of clothing spotted adorning the latest runways is a much baggier option with “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” cut trousers still reining supreme. This unfitted, looser style of clothing has been seen everywhere and is set to be one of the big trends for 2016. So it is from one extreme to the other with the style of fit this season, but while they are lie chalk and cheese, the do create a very chic ensemble when paired together.
While bold, bright colours and prints may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is always fun to try on new styles and fashions once in a while just to keep your wardrobe and your style fresh and relevant. Companies such as ASOS and Very stock all of the latest clothing and trends and you can order from the comfort of your own home. But don’t worry, if you feel you have made an impulse buy and these bold Spring/Summer deigns just aren’t your cup of tea at all, then both companies offer a very reliable and efficient returns policy so that you can send the clothes back safely and get your money back.
Be bold and be brave and try out the latest styles even if you have never worn anything similar before. You never know, you may just fall in love with it. Alternatively, you may hate it and immediately need to get hold of customer services to arrange an exchange. Either way, you won’t know until you try.
