Planes are starting to take off again and Brits are heading abroad for a break. As TUI are one of the largest travel agents in the UK, their staff are busy rearranging cancelled holidays and organising refunds for those whose holidays were cancelled. Rearranging your holiday depends on when your booking was made.
If your holiday was cancelled before 11 July 2020
If your holiday was cancelled before 11th July 2020 you’ll receive a full refund credit for the value of your holiday. You’ll also receive a separate booking incentive. This refund credit can be used in the future and doesn’t need to be used immediately. So, you could use the refund to rebook your holiday to next year.
If your booking was part of a package, your refund credit will carry the same ATOL protection. If you booked one of their Marella Cruises or TUI River Cruises booking and it was a cabin-only booking, or sailed from a UK port, your refund credit is protected under the ABTA bonding scheme. This gives you some financial security.
You can read the refund credit and separate booking incentive terms and conditions here.
If you’re not in a financial position to receive a refund credit, you can fill out the refund request form to apply for a cash refund. If you booked your holiday through a third party then you’ll need to contact them directly as their terms and conditions may differ.
If your holiday was cancelled on or after July 2020
If you find a holiday or destination that you would like to change your booking to for summer 2020, you can amend them within the booking section of your account. You can also change your booking to a later season if you’d prefer. If you do amend your holiday, you’ll receive a booking incentive so you can find your dream holiday with no extra cost. You have 15 days to amend your booking from when you receive your cancellation confirmation email. After this, your holiday will be automatically cancelled.
If you’re not ready to book another holiday right away, you can wait for 15 days and once you’ve received a cancellation confirmation email for your holiday to be cancelled automatically. You will then receive a full refund credit which can be used towards any holiday between this summer and 31st October 2021 (next year).
You can also simply cancel your holiday and you’ll be automatically refunded for the amount you paid for your holiday.
